Coal pit Zollverein
in Essen belonged to the most important and biggest coal
mines of the Ruhr - district. Also the mighty coke ovens
with their five tall chimneys is a very imposant building.
(Zollverein = tariff union)
After the coal pit was closed, the buildings have been used
for cultural and economical purposes.
